ZF sells over 250 million electric parking brake units – Charged EVs

German mobility products manufacturer ZF announces that it has produced a total of 250 million units of its electric parking brake (EPB), a technology that the company pioneered nearly 25 years ago by introducing the motor-on-caliper brake.

ZF says the EPB improves fuel economy by reducing weight in the brake system and enables advanced functions when integrated with other vehicle systems. It enhances driver safety by allowing two-wheel anti-lock emergency stops and providing simple button activation. In addition, it minimizes the degradation associated with mechanical systems and provides dynamic actuation and brake pad wear sensing.

“As we move toward advanced safety, automated driving and vehicle electrification, braking systems continue to play a pivotal role,” said Danny Milot, Senior VP of Brake Engineering at ZF.
