Washington University deploys GreenPower electric student transport vans – Charged EVs

Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri has taken delivery of eight electric EV Star passenger vans manufactured by GreenPower Motor, a company that produces a variety of high-floor and low-floor electric medium- and heavy-duty buses, shuttles and vans.

This more than doubles the august institution’s fleet of five EV Star vans, which it acquired two years ago.

The vans will be used for on-campus student transportation, GreenPower said. Each van has a range of up to 150 miles (241 km), supports Level 2 and DC fast charging and can be ordered with a wireless charging option. The vehicles have rear ADA lifts and wheelchair securement positions, and are equipped with bike racks and electric bus doors.

Washington University is a private research university in St. Louis and was founded in 1853. Named for George Washington, the school, which has an enrollment of 16,550, has students from all 50 states of the union as well as from 110 countries.
