Volvo Construction Equipment has announced the opening of new facilities at its plants in Changwon, South Korea and Braås, Sweden.
The two facilities were built at a cost of 440 million Swedish kronor ($42 million).
In Changwon, Volvo invested 80 million kronor to build a battery pack production facility for electric excavators.
“With the completion of the new battery pack production facility, we can now produce [electric excavators] in-house,” said Andrew Knight, Managing Director of Volvo Group Korea.
The company also invested 360 million kronor to expand production facilities in Braås, located in the southern part of Sweden. The facilities will be used to accelerate the company’s planned shift to electromobility for articulated haulers, or articulated dump trucks.
