Urban Arrow launches updated Bosch-powered electric cargo bikes in the US

Urban Arrow, a major player in the premium electric cargo bike market, has unveiled its newly updated Family Line of eCargo bikes featuring the Bosch Smart System. The cargo bike company, known for its practical and family-friendly front loader design, aims to provide a powerful, sustainable alternative to cars with this launch, targeting families who want to embrace urban mobility with a premium ride.

The two new models, known as the Urban Arrow Family Performance and Cargo Line, are designed to deliver enhanced safety, connectivity, and performance.

The integration of the Bosch Smart System provides riders with real-time data, customizable ride modes, smartphone integration, and bike tracking features as anti-theft measures. This means families can confidently navigate their daily routines, from school drop-offs to errands and weekend pleasure riding.

Even more so than with budget electric bikes, premium e-bikes from high-end companies like Urban Arrow come with serious concerns regarding bike theft. Urban Arrow has addressed this concern by making use of Bosch’s native e-bike tracking abilities. The new Cargo Line e-bike model includes a Bosch Connect Module, which provides that additional layer of security that many riders are searching for.

This feature includes motion sensors that trigger alarms and send notifications to the owner’s smartphone if tampering is detected. In addition to these alerts, the system allows for remote motor locking, GPS tracking, and automated theft reporting to the authorities.

One hallmark of Urban Arrow’s Family Line is its wide-open front loader design, which positions children in front of the rider. This setup offers greater interaction between the rider and passengers, making it a safer and more convenient choice compared to traditional long-tail cargo bikes that seat the children behind the rider.

The bike also features a three-point seatbelt system and an EPP box designed to offer superior protection, resembling an inverted helmet to safeguard young passengers.

Customization is a key element of the new models, as families can expand the bike’s capacity to carry up to four children or additional cargo. Accessories such as rain and sun covers are available to protect passengers in varying weather conditions, and the bikes can even accommodate car seats for younger children.

Urban Arrow’s General Manager for North America, Mark Danhof, noted the growing popularity of electric cargo bikes in the region, citing their increasing appeal as a second-car replacement. “As the cost of car ownership rises and urban infrastructure improves, e-cargo bikes are becoming more mainstream,” said Danhof. “Urban Arrow’s bikes provide a safe, spacious, and eco-friendly alternative for families.”

Urban Arrow’s updated Family Line is available in two configurations: the Performance Line and the Cargo Line. The Performance Line, with a starting price of $6,999, comes equipped with a 75Nm Bosch motor, a strong KMC chain, and an Intuvia 100 display. Meanwhile, the Cargo Line, priced at $7,999, offers a more powerful 85Nm motor and features the Gates carbon belt for a maintenance-free ride, along with the enhanced Kiox display for full smartphone integration.

Both models include Bosch mid-drive motors and a larger 545Wh battery, providing ample range for everyday use. Riders will also benefit from an easy-to-use control system and a color display that keeps all ride information accessible at a glance.
