US-based Terawatt Infrastructure will provide charging infrastructure, including software, operations and maintenance support, at six of its charging hubs along the I-10 corridor to a shipper-carrier coalition that aims to accelerate heavy-duty EV deployment.
The coalition, under the Netherlands-based Smart Freight Center, a global non-profit organization focused on climate action in the freight sector, includes AIT Worldwide Logistics, DB Schenker, Maersk, Microsoft and PepsiCo. The companies will test long-haul heavy-duty EV operations along the I-10 corridor between Los Angeles, California and El Paso, Texas.
The coalition aims to demonstrate the possibilities for fleet emissions reduction while accelerating long-haul EV deployment and cost parity. By identifying key findings and developing the wider ecosystem around electric trucks, the pilot is designed to attract other shippers and carriers to electrify their fleets at scale and encourage technology providers to accelerate development of turnkey products for electric transport.

Together with Terawatt and other coalition partners, we look forward to accelerating freight decarbonization and proving that the electric truck corridor can promptly become operational at low volumes, and rapidly scale up afterwards,” said Christoph Wolff, CEO of the Smart Freight Center.
