STUKEN to establish new plant in Pune to expand global production reach | Autocar Professional

Renowned deep-drawing specialist, STUKEN, is set to extend its global footprint with the establishment of a new plant in Pune, India. Adding to its existing manufacturing sites in Germany, the USA, the Czech Republic, and China, India marks the fifth production location for the globally recognised family business.

Having maintained its own production facilities in Asia since 2006, STUKEN, a market leader in precision deep-drawn parts, anticipates substantial growth in its South East Asia operations. The surge is attributed to the dynamic and consistently expanding market for individual mobility. STÜKEN’s expertise is particularly sought after in sectors such as automotive, providing components for brakes, exhaust gas systems, and various sensors.

After careful research and a comprehensive assessment of opportunities and risks, India emerged as the strategic choice for a new production site in Asia, the company shared. Dr. Uwe Krismann, CEO of STUKEN, emphasised, “With increasing exhaust gas emission standards, the demand for deep-drawn components, especially for sensors in the entire powertrain, has witnessed a significant upswing. This technology is crucial not only for cars but also for the multitude of two- and three-wheelers sold in the Indian market annually.”

The upcoming STUKEN plant is slated for construction in the greater Pune area, a region known for its prominence in the IT and automotive sectors, with an established supplier structure. Dr. Krismann noted, “Pune has been dynamically and successfully developing for several years, becoming increasingly international. This creates a favorable environment for our employees who will actively contribute to the on-site development.” The company plans to commence deep-drawn parts production in India by 2025.
