New Delhi: Steelbird Hi-Tech India Ltd, the world’s largest helmet manufacturer, to mark its 60th anniversary, has introduced the new SBA-17 RDX helmet at INR 1199, It is planning to set up a new plant in Tamil Nadu investing INR 250 crore.

The company has also unveiled expansion plans in manufacturing, retail, and product development. The brand plans to launch 70 new helmets in 2024.

This open-face SBA-17 RDX helmet features a durable thermoplastic shell, replaceable cheek pads, a stylishly designed interior, high-density EPS for superior impact protection, and a scratch-resistant polycarbonate visor with an integrated Inner Sun Shield. As a gesture of appreciation, the first 100,000 purchasers will receive a complimentary smoke visor.

Capacity expansion: Steelbird is investing over INR 250 crore to construct a new, manufacturing facility in southern India. The brand is looking for land in and around Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This plant will address the growing demand for helmets in the aftermarket and among original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the South. Concurrently, the company is increasing production capacity at its existing plants in Baddi, targeting an output of 50,000 units per day.

Retail expansion: Steelbird is growing its Riderz Shoppe network with a goal of adding 800 more stores by the end of 2025. These specialized outlets offer a comprehensive selection of helmets, riding apparel, and accessories, delivering a personalized shopping experience for the biking community and actively promoting the use of ISI-certified helmets.

Safety focus: Steelbird’s commitment to innovation and safety has solidified its position as the world’s largest helmet manufacturer, with sales of 80 lakh units globally in 2023. The company’s group revenue reached INR 687 crore in the calendar year 2023.
