Solaris to deliver 30 electric buses to Dutch transport operator – Charged EVs

Polish bus manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach will supply Arriva, a private transportation company operating in the Netherlands, with 26 Urbino 12 electric buses and four articulated Urbino 18 electric buses for service in the West-Brabant region.

Equipped with central traction engines, the buses are based on a modular drive system architecture that eliminates the so-called engine tower. This increases passenger space and allows the batteries, which have a capacity of about 400 kWh, to be placed on the roof. Each bus will have a charging socket on either side.

The scheduled delivery of the buses in the first half of 2025 aligns with the operator’s plans to make the region’s entire bus fleet zero-emission by the summer of 2025.

“We are happy to continue our cooperation by introducing another zero-emission technology—besides hydrogen—to Arriva’s fleet,” said Olivier Michard, Chief Commercial Officer at Solaris Bus & Coach.
