- Skoda and Volkswagen have recalled a total of 52 units that are manufactured between November 29, 2023, and, January 20, 2024.
Skoda and Volkswagen have listed a voluntary recall on SIAM’s website for the Taigun, Virtus, Kushaq and Slavia. According to the manufacturers, a total of 52 models have been affected, including 38 units of Taigun and Virtus and 14 units of Kushaq and Slavia. The affected models were manufactured between November 29, 2023, and, January 20, 2024.
It is indicated in the listing that there is a suspicion that the weld seam on the ‘track control arm’ may not have been properly executed during the welding process. Should this component fail, it could lead to an abrupt loss of vehicle control and stability, occurring without any prior indication.
The listing says, “It has been observed that, in Skoda Kushaq and Slavia manufactured during the aforesaid period, due to the production process irregularity at the component supplier’s end, for an identified period, it is suspected that, during the welding process, the weld seam on the affected component “track control arm” might have missed. In unavoidable circumstances and during critical driving maneuvers, if the component fails, it may result in a sudden loss of vehicle stability and control, without any prior warning. This can lead to an accident, potentially injuring the vehicle occupants and causing damage to third parties.”
The recall was officially documented on October 20, 2024. As of now, Skoda and Volkswagen have not released any official statement regarding this. It is expected that both manufacturers will get in touch with the owners of the affected vehicles for an inspection and fix the issue without charging anything.

Skoda Kodiaq to launch in May 2025
The next-generation Skoda Kodiaq was unveiled globally last year, and a timeline for its introduction in India has now been established. The new Kodiaq is expected to be available for purchase by May 2025, with the model being locally assembled in India, which is advantageous for potential buyers. Petr Janeba, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, affirmed this information during the global launch event of the new Kylaq subcompact SUV.

Skoda Octavia RS to be showcased at Bharat Mobility Expo
Skoda has confirmed that they will be showcasing the high performance version of the Octavia at the Bharat Mobility Expo. The brand will evaluate whether they should bring the Octavia RS to the Indian market or not. That said, the model is expected to arrive as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which means prices won’t be as competitive as they used to be.
