Microvast unveils LFP-based ME6 energy storage solution – Charged EVs


Texas-headquartered battery technology company Microvast has introduced its ME6 energy storage system (ESS) and the 565 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, designed to meet the demands of ESS customers for long-term performance, cost-efficiency and reliability. 

The company is shifting its ESS market focus on production of its LFP battery systems—which it is moving from Colorado to its Clarksville, Tennessee facility, where it continues to consolidate operations.

According to Microvast, the ME6 ESS offers an energy capacity of 6 MWh in a 21-foot container. It features IP55, C4 and nitrogen protection from fire and corrosion as well as an integrated modular cooling system.

Microvast claims its 565 Ah LFP batteries are cheaper than nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) batteries and more reliable, having superior thermal stability, a longer cycle life for ESS applications, and—because they contain no cobalt—greater environmental friendliness.

“Utilizing our high-performance LFP cells, we have developed an ME6 container that boosts capacity and stability while providing a life span of up to 30 years and supporting more than 10,000 cycles,” said Dr. Wenjuan Mattis, Chief Technology Officer of Microvast.
