MG Motor India aims to increase women in its workforce to 50% | Autocar Professional

MG Motor India aims to increase women in its workforce to 50% in a few years. The company, which employs 34% women at the moment, aims to achieve this goal ‘in a few years’, said Yeshwinder Patial, Senior director, HR, MG Motor India.

The company which has a total of five models – the Astor, Gloster, Hector Hector, Comet and the ZS EV, said that it is encouraging women to return to the workforce irrespective of breaks they might have taken (maternity or otherwise).

It has started an initiative called Drive Her Back, for women who want to return to the workforce. This is open to women across all fields, and not only the automotive field. They are hired on a one-year contract basis, wherein they are absorbed on the basis of their efficiency. The company aims to ‘relaunch them back into the industry’. In cases where they are not absorbed, they help them get other opportunities as well.
