MG Motor India has rejigged the Astor SUV’s line-up, with a new entry-level Sprint variant starting at Rs 9.98 lakh. The Creta-rivalling midsize SUV tops out at Rs 17.88 lakh for the top-spec Savvy Pro variant. The Astor also gets new features on its top-spec trim, and now has the most affordable starting price among all midsize SUVs in the country.

Here’s a detailed look at the prices of the 2024 MG Astor:

2024 MG Astor: what’s new?

The 2024 Astor is available in five new trims: Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. Previously, it was available in Style, Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy trims.

The new Sprint variant, available only with the naturally aspirated petrol engine, drops the entry price by a massive Rs 83,000 over the previous Style entry variant that was priced at Rs 10.81 lakh. Moreover, the turbo-petrol engine, which was previously available in three trims is now available on just the top-spec Savvy Pro trim.

2024 MG Astor: new features

The 2024 Astor gets additional features like ventilated front seats, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and auto dimming IRVM. The entry-level Astor Sprint seems to be decently equipped too with features like LED headlamps, daytime running lamps, dual-tone interior, soft-touch dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. MG has also updated the i-Smart infotainment software with newer connected features.

2024 MG Astor: powertrain options

Under the hood, it remains mechanically unchanged. There’s a 110hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine that comes mated to a five-speed manual or eight-step CVT automatic gearbox. The other engine option is a 140hp, 220Nm, 1.3-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that only gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

The Astor sees stiff competition from the Hyundai Creta (facelift launching next week), Kia SeltosMaruti Grand VitaraToyota HyryderCitroen C5 AircrossSkoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
