New Delhi: Lithium ion battery recycler, LOHUM has entered into a multi-year supply contract agreement with electric motorcycle manufacturer, TORK Motors for the collection and recycling of TORK’s flagship Kratos R electric motorcycles‘ Lithium-ion batteries upon reaching end-of-life.
The partnership designates LOHUM as TORK Motor’s preferred recycling partner, ensuring compliance with India’s BWMR requirements and the production of battery raw materials with EPR. TORK Motors, known for its Kratos R electric motorcycle, features a patented 9kW ‘Axial Flux’ motor and a 4.0 kWh Li-ion battery pack.
Facilitated by LOHUM’s DETX™ weighted future battery buyback price index, the partnership requires the recycling of lithium-ion batteries from TORK Motors using the NEETM™ multi-stage hydro-metallurgical process at LOHUM’s ‘Reclaim’ facility in Greater Noida.
Chetan Jain, Senior VP of Business Operations at LOHUM, emphasized that the collaboration would expedite the proliferation of electric vehicles in India’s extensive 2-wheeler segment while contributing to a sustainable supply of recycled, secondary ecosystem energy transition materials.
Kapil Shelke, Founder & CEO of TORK Motors, underscored the significance of planning for the future in terms of battery recycling as part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy.
The agreement emphasizes the shared vision of circularity between the two companies, propelling the ongoing EV revolution and energy transition in India while mitigating the demand for environmentally and socially costly primary ecosystem battery raw materials.
