Drivetrain engineering firm hofer powertrain is collaborating with engineering specialist Monumo to build new electric motor designs that can reduce cost and the use of permanent magnets, while improving the efficiency and performance of EV powertrains.
Cambridge-based startup Monumo has developed a scalable engine called Anser, which can evaluate millions of detailed powertrain concepts within days. hofer powertrain and Monumo aim to use data-driven machine learning approaches to reduce the concept design phase of a new electric drive unit by up to 80%.
