Ford and TXU Energy partner to offer free home EV charging hours – Charged EVs

Ford and Texas electric power provider TXU Energy, a subsidiary of Texas-based energy company Vistra, are partnering to offer the TXU Free EV Miles program.

The program provides Ford EV customers with a credit on their TXU Energy bill for all home energy used for daily EV charging between 7 pm and 1 pm the next day, all year long. Added benefits for enrolling in the program include a $100 welcome bonus from Ford and a $250 bonus from TXU Energy for staying enrolled for a year.

Charging can be scheduled through the Preferred Charge Times feature in the FordPass app or through the in-vehicle touchscreen to ensure that charging takes place only within TXU Energy’s free hours. Any charging performed outside of the free hours will be billed at the normal home rate. Ford and TXU Energy will use the program to test customer interest in additional future energy offerings that incentivize customers to support grid stability in the state.

“This partnership with Ford fits squarely into TXU Energy’s broader strategy of educating customers on the benefits of owning an EV, removing barriers to making the switch, and increasing grid resiliency,” said Sam Sen, TXU Energy VP of Energy Transition Solutions.
