EVgo and Regency Centers open new charging station in North Carolina – Charged EVs

Building on a partnership that began in 2020, EV charging network EVgo and Florida-based shopping center owner, operator and developer Regency Centers, have opened a new fast charging station at Blakeney Town Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This is the seventh such site opened in metropolitan areas in North Carolina. It was built as part of EVgo’s collaboration with GM, with funding support from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.

EVgo and Regency Centers have jointly opened more than 120 public charging stalls at about 40 Regency properties in 10 states, and are scheduled to add locations in Maryland, Massachusetts and Texas over the next year. Each new station is expected to offer at least one 350 kW charger capable of accommodating two vehicles simultaneously.

“Our retail communities bring people together to shop, dine and gather, making public charging stations a nice amenity for EV drivers visiting our properties,” said Mark Peternell, VP of Sustainability at Regency Centers.
