US-based EV charging provider ChargePoint is partnering with accommodation platform Airbnb to make it easier for Airbnb hosts in the US to install EV chargers at their listings.
ChargePoint is providing Airbnb hosts a discounted package that includes a dedicated website offering ChargePoint hardware, charger management software, installation, and support services. Airbnb guests will be able to charge their vehicles using the ChargePoint app.
Airbnb data shows that listings offering an EV charger are booked for more nights and generate more income on average than listings without an EV charger. Airbnb searches for listings with EV chargers increased by more than 80% from 2022 to 2023.
“With Airbnb, we are enabling more EV charging for drivers where they need it and helping Airbnb hosts appeal to more travelers by delivering a frictionless charging experience for their guests,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO at ChargePoint.
