2025 Toyota Prius goes dark with Nightshade trim

The 2025 Toyota Prius continues unchanged except for a new Nightshade grade and a small price increase.

The base Prius LE grade now costs $29,485 including the mandatory $1,135 destination charge—$400 more than the comparable 2024 model. The cost of the Prius XLE positioned just above it increases by the same amount, to $32,930. Toyota also increased the price of the top Limited grade—which adds features like heated and ventilated front seats and a bigger touchscreen—by $400, to $36,500.

The Prius Nightshade is based on the XLE and features the same, mostly cosmetic upgrades as other Toyota Nightshade models. Starting at $33,630 with destination, it adds black 19-inch wheels, and black exterior trim.

2025 Toyota Prius

Introduced for the 2023 model year with much sleeker styling than its predecessor, the Prius continues to team a 2.0-liter inline-4 with Toyota’s familiar planetary-gear hybrid system. Front-wheel drive is standard, while an all-wheel drive system that uses a dedicated electric motor to drive the rear wheels is a $1,400 option.

Front-wheel drive models generate 194 hp, while all-wheel drive models are rated at 196 hp. EPA fuel-economy ratings—topping out at 57 mpg combined for and 54 mpg combined for all-wheel drive models—are expected to be unchanged.

Toyota also continues to offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain option, which for 2025 is badged as the Prius Plug-In Hybrid following Toyota’s decision to nix the Prime badge for both that model and the plug-in hybrid version of the RAV4. This model is otherwise unchanged, though, still returning 44 miles of EPA electric range and 51 mpg combined after that, plus a brisk 6.6-second 0-60 mph time.
