ROHM and UAES sign supply agreement for SiC power devices – Charged EVs

Japanese electronic parts manufacturer ROHM Semiconductor and China-headquartered United Automotive Electronic Systems (UAES), a developer and manufacturer of automotive electronic systems, have entered into a long-term supply agreement for SiC power devices.

The components are designed to improve the efficiency and performance of a variety of EV systems that contribute to increased cruising range and reduced battery size.

The two companies, which have been collaborating since 2015 on automotive applications for SiC power devices, established the SiC Joint Research Institute at the UAES headquarters in Shanghai in 2020. In 2021, UAES selected ROHM as its preferred supplier of such devices for automotive products, which include onboard chargers and inverters for EVs.

“Moving forward, we will continue to drive technological innovation in electric vehicles together with UAES by offering power solutions centered on SiC,” said Tsuguki Noma, Corporate Officer and Director of the Power Device Business Unit at ROHM.
