Maruti Suzuki Swift crosses 3 million sales mark | Autocar Professional

Maruti Suzuki Swift has crossed the 30 lakh sales milestone in India. Currently in its fourth generation that was recently launched, the Swift has achieved the landmark in 19 years since it first went on sale in 2005.

The Swift crossed the 25 lakh sales milestone in September 2021, which means it took the car under three years to record a sale of 5 lakh units in the country. The hatchback has been one of the top sellers for Maruti in India. Despite the onslaught of affordable SUVs in recent years, the Swift continues to be the one of the top hatchback choices for buyers.

Maruti Swift: powertrain, features, price

Powering the Swift is a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine making 82hp and 112Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission along with an optional AMT. The Swift is also expected to get a new CNG powertrain sometime later this year.

On the equipment front, the Swift gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 4.2-inch MID in the instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, rear AC vents, LED fog lamps, cruise control, auto climate control, push-button start/stop, steering-mounted controls, a rear camera, and power adjustable and folding wing mirrors. Safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, ESC and so on.

The Swift is priced from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom), and goes up against the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago, and even the Citroen C3 in the market.
