Kempower launches MCS heavy-duty EV charger – Charged EVs

Finnish EV charger supplier Kempower has launched a new Megawatt Charging System (MCS)-compliant charging station in the North American market.

The new charger supports MCS charging at 1,500 amps and up to 1.2 MW of peak power. The Kempower Mega Satellite delivers high-power CCS charging. Unused power from the MCS can be dynamically distributed among several CCS outputs within the same system. Kempower customers can upgrade their systems to MCS by combining two 600 kW Kempower Power Units.

The company started production at its new facility in North Carolina last year after earning Electrical Testing Laboratories certification from Intertek Testing Laboratories.

“We believe that the truck market is the next frontier in the DC fast charging space; our MCS solution fills the need to charge heavy trucks quickly and reliably,” said Tomi Ristimäki, CEO of Kempower.
