As standard, the GLS 600 is available in Black, Polar White and Silver Metallic colour options; dual-tone paint shades are optional extras. The updates to the interior are even more minimal, but the focus has been on new software and trim options. A new steering wheel and revised AC vents aside, you get the latest-gen MBUX software with new graphics, updated telematics, a fingerprint sensor and hand gestures for selective commands.

As ever, the rear seats are the place to be in the Maybach GLS 600 – the standard bench seat gets ventilation and massage function and recline up to 43.5 degrees. An extendable leg rest, a central tablet on the fold-down arm rest and the twin rear 11.6-inch MBUX screens are standard, along with a 590W Burmester 3D surround sound system, Maybach-specific ambient lighting, Level 2 ADAS suite as well as Mercedes’ signature Energizing package.

The first-class executive seats with the continuous centre console is an optional extra.

The GLS 600 gets Nappa leather upholstery in either black or dual-tone mahogany brown/macchiato beige shades; the dashboard comes finished in either brown open-pore walnut wood trim or anthracite open-pore oak wood trim elements.

The first-class lounge seats with the continuous centre console, refrigerator compartment with Maybach-branded champagne flutes, Manufaktur leather package and gloss black dashboard finish with pin stripes are all optional extras.

Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600: powertrain, specs

Under the hood, the GLS 600 retains the familiar AMG-sourced 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 557hp and 770Nm of peak torque (up 40Nm from before). It also gets a 48V integrated starter generator that provides an additional boost of 22hp and 250Nm. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, sending drive to all four wheels via the 4Matic system. Mercedes claims a 0-100kph sprint time of 4.9 seconds and a top-speed of 250kph. The GLS 600 gets adaptive dampers as standard, but you can also spec it with fully active suspension that gets an exclusive Maybach drive mode.

In India, the only rival to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is the 4.4-litre V8 Range Rover which costs between Rs 3.10 crore and 4.46 crore, ex-showroom, and is available in both regular and long wheelbase guises.
