New Delhi: The California-based Biliti Electric has started construction of its new electric three-wheelers and advanced Li-Ion battery packs manufacturing facility on a 13-acre site in Velimela, in Hyderabad, Telangana state, at an investment of over INR 400 crore.
The facility aims to have a production capacity of 2,000 electric three-wheelers a month, and to generate over 10,000 job opportunities, the company said in a media release.
Jennifer Larson, Consul General of USA, Hyderabad, took part in laying the Foundation Stone during the ground-breaking ceremony on Saturday along with Gopalakrishnan VC, Director of Automotive and EV, Govt. of Telangana, the release said..
“Being a US-based company, I am very happy to witness Biliti Electric setting the groundwork for the next phase of its factory expansion in India,” Jennifer Larson said. This initiative in business partnerships with prominent US companies like GoBolt and FreshDirect would strengthen the business relations between the United States and India, marking a positive stride in collaborative ventures and technological advancements, she added.

Biliti Electric specializes in creating a scalable battery swapping network for urban mobility and energy storage. The company pioneers the development and manufacturing of advanced modular battery technology suitable for various vehicle form factors. Its primary application has been in the realm of three-wheelers for last-mile delivery. Biliti has deployed vehicles and batteries across 15 countries and 5 continents, with the vision to leverage batteries as distributed energy resources, particularly in urban environments, contributing to energy storage and grid stabilization at scale, the release added.
In addition to the new manufacturing facility, Biliti Electric operates assembly plants in the United States, Portugal, and Kenya. Taskman, Biliti’s technology, is utilized by prominent entities such as Amazon, IKEA, JUMIA, BigBasket (Tata), Voi Mobility, Zomato, Flipkart (Walmart), and others. The company has garnered support from distinguished figures in the automotive industry, including G. Richard Wagoner, Jr., former CEO of General Motors, and Mark Joseph, Former CEO of Veolia Transportation and Transdev N.America, who serve on its Board of Advisors.
