Cabs, delivery service platforms must register on govt’s online portal – ET Auto

The scheme, notified by Delhi government in November, mandates all cab aggregators and delivery service providers to switch their entire fleet to electric by 2030 to curtail emissions.

New Delhi: Delhi government is creating an online portal on which all cabs and delivery service providers will have to mandatorily register for the Delhi Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme, 2023.

Officials said the portal is aimed at enforcing the cab aggregator policy that would bring aggregator platforms under government’s ambit to ensure passenger safety. “The online portal is ready. A demonstration was given to companies a few days ago,” said transport commissioner Ashish Kundra.

The scheme, notified by Delhi government in November, mandates all cab aggregators and delivery service providers to switch their entire fleet to electric by 2030 to curtail emissions.

A senior transport department official said the aggregators will have to give the registration numbers and driving licence details of the drivers. The policy covers all aggregators providing passenger transport in Delhi as well as those involved in delivery services and e-commerce vehicles. Those interested would need to register with the government within 90 days from the date of notification and procure a five-year licence.

The policy ensures enhanced security features for passengers, including a 24×7 control room to track movement of drivers, integration of panic buttons with enforcement agencies and corrective measures against drivers being awarded a rating less than three stars in more than 25% of the rides in a month.
