Hero to launch Harley X440-based bike this month | Autocar Professional

As we had reported earlier, Hero MotoCorp has been working on its own motorcycle based on the Harley-Davidson X440 platform. And now the company has revealed that this new bike will debut at the Hero World event slated to take place in the latter half of this month.

The launch as well as the first ride reviews will take place next month, so stay tuned as we bring you the latest news.

The upcoming 440cc Hero motorcycle is likely to be more youthful and sporty with a completely different appearance to the Harley-Davidson X440. However, it will retain the same engine with its distinct thump that can be heard in the teaser video sent by the company.

Earlier this year, Hero also trademarked the name Hurikan 440, with the numerical aspect of the name clearly giving away the fact that it could be used on a 440cc motorcycle. This narrows the possibilities down to Hero’s upcoming bike based on the Harley-Davidson X440 platform.

Some time ago, we broke the news of Hero working on multiple premium machines, including the X440, and in that same document there was a silhouette of a naked bike next to the small Harley. This fact bolsters the idea that the Hero 440cc derivative could follow the form factor of a naked bike.

When the Hero 440 does launch, expect it to be positioned lower than the X440 at around the Rs 2 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It could also have different variants, like its Harley counterpart.
